Basic Terminal Commands

A list of commonly used commands:

  • sudo
  • ls - Stands for “list files” and will list all the files in your current directory.
  • pwd - Means “print working directory” and will tell you the exact working directory you are currently in.
  • cd
  • mkdir
  • tree (need to be installed)
  • rm ("-rf" danger!!!)
  • apt
  • lspci
  • su - <username>
  • unzip
  • gunzip
  • tar -xvzf
  • touch
  • pip
  • echo
  • cat
  • more
  • less
  • nano
  • gedit
  • vi
  • wget
  • curl
  • chmod
